Where to find best Soy Sauce Chicken?

Jason | Jul 27, 2004 01:44 AM

I had an epiphany of sorts over the weekend when I tasted my first ever Costco Rotisserie chicken! Oh, it was delicious and succulent! I cannot stop thinking about eating that chicken now! (FWIW, this is the Costco on 10th street in SF)

Anyways, this has reminded me that I still do not know where to get the best soy sauce chicken in SF. Granted, I have not tried so many places, but so far my attempts to find soy sauce chicken have not been met with resounding succulency.

I have tried:

The place on 7th and clement that is 1/2 takeout dimsum/bakery and 1/2 chicken/ducks/char-siu in window. I have also tried Win's on 40th and Taraval. Neither place is BAD per se, but neither place is particularly succulent.

My gold standard for soy sauce chicken in Chicago was BBQ King in New Chinatown Mall on Archer. However, I HAVE to believe that SF soy sauce chickens blows away any Chicago soy sauce chickens ... there's just so much more selection in SF.

If someone could elaborate, it would be fantastic. In fact, I can think of four categories:

1) Best Soy Sauce Chicken in the Inner Richmond
(along clement)
2) Best Soy Sauce Chicken in Chinatown
3) Best Soy Sauce Chicken in Outer Sunset (on Irving)
4) Best Soy Sauce Chicken over all

Please note that I'm asking for chicken and not duck. I love duck (and goose) but both those birds are fattier and I'd rather buy chicken much more often than duck or goose (which I consider a once-every-three-months-treat)

Thank you!

Lastly, I searched some old posts and found the following from Yimster with no mention of where to get it!

Paul, I not the Limster, but I will email the address of the two dollar small soy sauce chicken when I get home and look it up.

I not sure Limster want me trying to be him.
