My husband and I had the most amazing dessert in South Philadelphia last night and we are now obsessed with trying to recreate it. Titled "Baked Ice Cream with Cranberry Coulis", the dessert consisted of a ball of vanilla ice cream wrapped in a pastry dough lightly lined with what tasted like almond paste. The pastry was baked to a golden brown and drizzled with a cranberry sauce. The combination worked beautifully, with the ice cream just barely soft under the pastry/almond layer. Wow!! Does anyone out there have a recipe for something similar?
