Years ago, before I attained chow consciousness, I was driving around in the vicinity of Santa Ana in early November when I happened upon a Mexican bakery that had the most spectacular seasonal sweet bread in shapes of people and maybe other things. I believe that there was also a Mexican food market next door. At the time I assumed that this sort of thing was commonplace, and so I didn't bother to note where it was. Yet since then I have never, despite much searching all through the greater Los Angeles area, come across a Mexican bakery that remotely compared to it, whether in early November or at any other time. Does anybody know what bakery I might be talking about? I believe that it was on the south side of a major east-west street in an area that was only moderately built up.
Any ideas much appreciated.
