Finally Real Texas Barbeque L.A.!!!! (Really)

Okay, so here's the deal. l just got back from a trial meal at Leonard Schwartz's (Maple Drive) new barbeque place " "Zeke's Smokehouse (up the block from La Cabanita) in Montrose aka North Glendale. Though the place won't be offically open until Thursday I feel compelled to spread the word that after eating much "Q" in various out of state places like the hallowed City Market in Lulling Texas there now exists true Texas barbeque in our fair city. Clearly Leonard and his partners have given the barbeque thing alot of thought. Clearly the research they've done into the lone star style of smoking and barbequing paid off as the brisket, ribs, chicken, and hot links are as close to the real stuff as you're going to get without a plane flight to and a rental car out of Austin. The menu also includes several favorite items imported from Maple Drive such as this signature "kick ass chili" and meatloaf. There is Carolina pulled pork on the menu but unfortunately they were sold out of it so I had to settle on pigging out on the brisket, hot links and half of my 12 year old son's baby back ribs. As I'm doing the Atkins diet thing I didn't indulge in many of the side dishes offered but my 15 yr. old daughter (a pain-in-the-ass vegetarian) waxed poetic over the mashed potatoes, french fried sweet potatoes, grilled veggies and the homemade apple sauce. Have I mentioned the sauces? There are three dispensers of homemade barbeque sauce on each table. A spicy, a sweet and a vinegar mustard that are in my humble estimation, as good as it gets. Anyway... I didn't mean to go on like this but I guess I'm just happy that there's finally a place like this for me that's closer than two time zones away.
