Finally tried a Nio's Roti (and Ali's, too)

OK, it's been ages that people have been encouraging me to try Nio's - usually whenever I recommend Lennie's. So I FINALLY got around to trying it. I had my usual, goat. Opted for the hot sauce. I enjoyed it, but not as much as Lennie's!! The roti skin is more flavorful at Lennie's. Plus Nio's use potato but not channa - Lennie's serves its rotis with both. The goat may have had a slight edge at Nio's in terms of edible-ness - less bony. The hot sauce was HOT. REALLY HOT. Too hot, I think. I like heat, but this heat was like a blanket over the whole thing that really took away from the complex layers of flavor of the roti and filling.

Ali's Roti - tried it the other night. Once again, tasty and certainly decent, but no Lennie's! Again, the skin was lacking in flavor. Again, potato but no channa. Again, one spice reigned and dulled the complexity of the flavors - in this case, it appeared to be black pepper. The goat itslef may have been the best quality here though.

All in all, GO LENNIE"S!
