I had an excellent late lunch at the Grand Central Market.
I went to Tacos Tumbras a Tomas and asked for a chicken taco, whereupon the guy got out more chicken than some places put in a whole burrito and added four tortillas and hot sauce etc. It was excellent. $2. Also a Jarritos tamarindo from the shop next door, much better than the fountain tamarindo from Tomas. $1.10.
But the big news is that the Grand Central Market now has an incredibly good Mexican bakery, La Adelita, (213) 628-0777. Everything there just jumps out of the cases with its interestingness. I got a triangular pastry that had a strange paste inside that might have been a combination of pineapple and coconut. It was the best thing I've eaten in a while. $1.35.
Oh, and I had dinner at Cicada. It cost ten times as much and wasn't as good.
