Was by the Ben & Jerry's in the East Village the other night -- planning on getting a core sundae -- but my choice was changed when I saw they had recently installed a soft-serve machine.
Generous small cone was $2.50 with tax, and tasted of real chocolate -- much better than that vague brown stuff you get off the Mr. Softee trucks. I want to try their vanilla next time -- and, of course, you can get the chocolate/vanilla swirl combo.
Don't know if they've installed soft-serve in all their locations, this was at the parlor on Third Ave near 10th St. You can't beat Mr. Softee for location -- but this was far better than anything I've gotten off of their trucks for years.
Too bad summer's now behind us, but it's nice to know it's there!
