Finally tried Bart's in Windsor, CT

Bart's drive-in. You have eluded me for years while I've been on my quest for the best hotdog but Saturday, I finally tried you!

Bart's is located in Windsor, CT on route 159.
The highlights: For a lazy Saturday afternoon (just around 1pm) there wasn't a huge line in front of us. The food came out quickly and the best part, we saw a Bald Eagle flying over us as we ate on a picnic table looking over the river.

I got a chili cheese hot dog and a rootbeer. My SO got a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard and ketchup. We split a small order of fries (which was rather large but we were able to finish it no problem). The frie
I adored the hot dog (on a grilled NE style bun) but the chili wasn't my favorite (for a hot dog). It was more the kind of chili you'd eat out of a bowl than the kind you'd use on a hot dog. It was just a little too beany and veggie-ish for me. The cheese was orange and odd and was like what you'd get if you ordered nachos at a movie theater.
I didn't try the burger but my SO said it was like what you'd get at a backyard cookout.

Sadly, I will always be comparing every chili cheese dog against Saint's in Southington, as I think they have the whole thing down perfectly from the dog to the melty American cheese to the best chili (no beans) ever.

I will definitely hit Bart's again and would love to try that yummy dog with kraut and mustard next time. The menu is way bigger than dogs and burgers so I can't rule them out for a meh chili.
