Finally Made It to Artie's

Went to Artie's for brunch yesterday. A few thoughts:

1. Service was very good.

2. For a place known far and wide as a brunch destination, the breakfast side of the menu was suprisingly spare. Just three off-the-menu specials, of which two were eggs benedict (the other being granola crusted brioche french toast). Kinda odd. It's basically lunch with these few breakfast choices.

Even odder when you consider that Artie's sibling, Carlyle Grand Cafe, is also known for brunch yet (IIRC) has a far wider selection on the breakfast side of the menu.

3. In any event, the food was very good. One standout was the chopped salad ($5), a worthy competitor to CPK's.

4. For my thoughts on the renowned vanilla pudding, see my "Rant: Restaurant Desserts Are Out of Control" on the General Board.
