The Filling Station in Orange (review)

Funwithfood | Oct 30, 2004 04:08 PM

A few months back we went to the Filling Station in downtown Orange for dinner. It was disappointing. We were advised that breakfast/lunch/pastries were their forte, so we returned to give breakfast a try.

The hostess who greeted us was the same surly young woman who greeted us last time. (Her "smile has fallen and it can't get up!".) Shouldn't it be "Restaurant 101" to have a friendly face greeting customers?

Fortunately, the waiter was very friendly. The first thing he brought out was the cinnamon roll (which I paid $1 to upgrade from toast!), and wow was that fantastic!

The sausage, bacon & cheese omelet was very large and fairly good, but needed *much* more cheese to hold it together. It was more like loose bits of meat stuffed into the folded egg. The hash browns were mushy and flavorless.

In conclusion, we would go again with the expectation of a hearty breakfast with no frills. The cinnamon roll alone might be worth another trip.
