Fig Tapa

Robert | Jul 11, 2005 10:44 AM

Since the weather was co-operating (high of about 85F here in Sacramento but going to 100F today) I had a little backyard tapa party yesterday afternoon. Had the usual offerings, olives, fruit wrapped with prosciutto, cheese etc. but the high point was one of the fig recipes posted by Ellen on 6-28. I found some figs at the local farmers market, cut 'em in half, a little piece of goat cheese in the center, wrapped 'em with a thin slice of salami or bacon then skewered. Broil about 10 minutes until the cheese starts to melt (broiled not grilled because they just came apart on the grill) then drizzled with balsamic vinegar. These little gems were a hugh hit. Especially with the Italian accordian player!! His eyes DID roll in the back of his head.

Thanks Ellen, and thanks Chowhound Home Cooking Board.
