The Fiddler @ Farmington Hills [DTW]

I had an Oy coupon that is due to expire at the end of the month, so the bride and I decided to
use it last night at The Fiddler. This is not our first visit. We've probably eaten their 20 times
over the years, but always on a weekend. Our Thu night visit was quite different.

On the weekends, it is usually, quite full. Not Thu night. At 6:30PM, we were the third table.

The waitress was quick to explain:

- Four [4] of the entrees were not available.
- The regular chef was not available and the owner/chef was cooking, so everything would be fine.
- She was the only one working the front of the house.

I ordered their stroganoff. I've had it before. It was served over noodles.
Not tonight. The waitress explained that they were out of noodles, and
it could be served with a side of potatoes or rice. I chose the rice. The
rice was garnished with golden raisins. Good flavors. The beef was
cut considerably thinner than in the past, but had good texture and
flavor. It worked, okay, I guess.

My bride's cabbage rolls w/diced potatoes was quite good. I'll be enjoying
the left-overs for lunch in a few hours. I am looking forward to it.

The kitchen was quick - too quick, in fact. We were only about half way
thru the salad course when the entrees arrived.

The service was knowledgable, prompt and attentive.

I am a bit puzzled about the overall experience and the lack of adequate
stock in the pantry.
