I went to Federal last night, the first time since they have changed chefs and added an oven and range (before they just had a crockpot and panini press!).
I had the burger au poivre, which was overwhelmingly black-peppered and a bit overdone, though I know the rules in NC. My wife had the "big fat pork chop" special which is often on the menu. That was moist and well flavored, and a big ol' chop. Other things on the menu were steak frites, several sandwiches and good specials, all for 7-12 bucks a olate.
Overall, the meal was good, and still the best value in town, as far as I can tell.
