I'm a foodie who loves to cook and eat! While not a big fan of the chains - East Side Mario's, Boston Pizza, etc., they have their following and serve their purpose. I prefer little local places which cook from scratch and make you feel at home. For a quick take out or a bite in, here are a few of my faves in Bowmanville.
SUSHI - Mito Sushi - just opened up in the Bowmanville Mall. No more driving to the 'shwa or Whitby!
FALAFEL/PITA - JP's Pita Deli - 170 Liberty St (in the little plaza by Harvey's at Liberty & the 401) The best Falafel's since we lived in Toronto. Lots of choices/toppings, all homemade. Run by a local couple.
HOT & SOUR SOUP - Great Wok - 100 Mearns Ave. (Mearns & Concession Plaza) They also have an authentic thick noodle dish which isn't on their menu but rather on the little board behind the cash register.
THAI - Tang Dynasty - 73 King E Terrific Pad Thai, Green & Red Curries and Tom Yum Soup. Run by a local family.
DELI SANDWICHES - Norm's Delicatessen - 29 King St E. The very best sandwiches, pierogies and cabbage rolls. Hometown couple Norm and Brenda make you feel like family - just count how many times Norm calls everyone Dear! ;-)
FRIES - Hancs and the Newfie Truck in Hampton
BREAKFAST & HOME STYLE COOKING - We have two GO TO places. In town is Chuky's - next to Great Wok - 100 Mearns and just out of town is Kela's - out on the Northbound side of Hwy 115 just north of the 3rd Concession. Both are run by great local families.
PUB FOOD - The Village Inn - 99 King W. A great Irish pub!
