Favorito's in Vancouver still one of my favourites

Favorito's been one of our favourite dining places in Vancouver. We haven't been there for awhile. That is until last night when we decided to patronize the restaurant again with our out-of-town guest.
I started with their consistently good minestrone soup. It comes in a very large cup-like bowl - hot and loaded with still crispy garden vegetables in a rich and tasty broth. I can almost taste summer in the bowl! Their house french bread and butter went very well with this starter. My companion ordered the tomato & bococini salad. A generous portion of ripe, plump tomato slices, with a drizzle of good balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The only complaint is the less than skimpy serving of boccocini cheeses.
For 'secondi', I picked veal saltimbucca with pasta (instead of vegetables). Thin slices of tender veal topped with cured pungent proscuitto, cooked in a lovely rich sauce flavoured with (what else) saltimbucca. They matched well with the linguini in fresh tomato sauce. Delicious!
My companion ordered the lamb dish. It came beautifully presented with pan-fried potato wedges, carrots, zucchini, squash and beets. Oh yes, he said the lamb is still one of his fav at this restaurant.
Our guest ordered the linguini primavera. Hearty serving of garden vegetables in a zesty tomato sauce with home made linguini.
For desserts, we opted for the fluffy tiramisu and creamy cassata. Both are a bargain at $4.50 each.
Wine list has a decent and well priced selection of Italian and BC wines.
Favorito's is a mid-priced range Italian restaurant on West Broadway near Cambie. After last night, it still remains one of our favourite restaurants in town.
