Any advice for great finds in the Temescal/Rockridge area? I'm looking for new neighborhood haunts.
Pizzaiola is pretty nice -- the service needs work, I think, and not all of the plates are very tasty, but the pizzas are very good and the wine list seems great to me.
Bakesale Betty's is a wonderful place. I go in there just to have a nice conversation, not to mention a great brownie.
I love Bittersweet on College. Who would think chocolate milk could be that good? The little cakes and pastries are lovely, too.
Lanesplitters is just okay, nothing to write home about. It's certainly easier to reach than Zachary's, though. Oy! The busy signals!
Uzen is some of my favorite sushi in the Bay Area, luckily. The service can be so-so, but some of the cuts are just amazing.
Genova Deli's counter staff is a laugh riot, but the prosciutto/mozzarella/basil sandwich I ordered was drenched in vinegar and on bread with no character at all. I wasn't particularly impressed, especially comparing it to Say Cheese in SF.
Pearl is nice for pretending to be in San Francisco. :) The food is okay, too.
What am I missing? Which of the Ethiopian places is the best for a meat eater? Is there any good Asian food to speak of, other than Uzen? Should I buy a demon dialler to get decent take-out pizza? Is Sai Sai on Telegraph any good?
Thanks for tips and pointers.
