Favorite Ice Cream and Frozen Treats – 2019

Melanie Wong | Jul 2, 201910:00 PM     17

July is National Ice Cream Month, a legacy of President Ronald Reagan, and 7/21/19 is National Ice Cream Day.

Let's hear about new purveyors that have opened up plus your tried and true favorites. Please share here good places to stop when you're in the neighborhood as well as destination spots that are worth a trip.

A couple weeks ago I revisited the new-ish Downtown Creamery in Cloverdale. It opened in December and features eight flavors of Petaluma Creamery ice cream and sorbets in the scoop station. This shows a single serving cup, $3.50, of Meyer lemon ice cream on top and Strawberry underneath. While this seasonal flavor might not be around much longer here or at the main Petaluma Creamery, I recommend it highly. Dense with finely shredded, fragrant citrus peel and captured the floral and tart-sweet balance of Meyers so well.
