Your favorite grocery store ice cream

Haeldaur | Jul 29, 201502:46 PM     60

The last two-three years have seen a great leap forward in the quality of ice cream available in Supermarkets. Gone are the days of living in a sad world of Dreyers, Klondike, and popsicles. Now we have all kinds of gourmet gelatos and ice creams. What are people's go-tos?

My current favorites are: Salted Caramel gelato from Talenti and Nancy's Fancy coconut straciatella (sold only in Gelson's). The Silverton ice cream is particularly expensive, but the texture is something else--truly rich and oily coconut.

I've had a few McConnell's, and I just find it consistently disappointing in texture. I recently taste tested their salted caramel chip flavor next to Talenti, and there was really no comparison in flavor or texture.
