I'm in dire need of a new camera. Mine is just sad. Look at the photo below: beautiful ice cream, horribly fuzzy photo. This was the best photo I got out of the dozens I took using different settings. This one was taken with the so-called "close up" setting. So focus already!
I know that taking shots of food from a foot away is not the purpose for which most low end digital cameras was created.
Having said that, have folks had unsual success with any one camera? Most important would be its ability to take sharp close up shots in dim lighting.
I have a Nikon Powershot, but it's a few years old. It's fine in sunlight or if i don't get too close to the food, but horrible in artificial light. If seeking out a camera with a close up function isn't enough, I don't know how I'm supposed to know if a camera's good without trying it.
