Saturday we went to Captain Harvey's Submarines for about the 1000th time, and it was as outstanding as always...No one makes subs, sandwiches to match them and that is fact not opinion, but the main reason I write today is that I have just recently made a trip to a place that has been around for almost 200 years!!!
It is called Union Hotel, and it is in Port Deposit, Maryland...
What a terrific place to combine an interesting trip, most interesting restaurant, and fine food!!
The best way to get there is from route 1, and NOT 95.
This way you go over the Conowingo bridge, and turn right IMMEDIATELY when you get off the bridge. One thing this does is avoid the FOUR dollar toll on 95 or 40, but it also is a very scenic trip. Union Hotel is actually before Port Deposit, but that what it is listed at, probably because there isnt another city for it to claim.
Anyway, very good menu, diverse, good mix of seafood, fowl, and steaks, and a huge prime rib, fine deserts, and wonderful bread. All served in a building that has been around for almost 200 years.... Truly a special trip.
