Favorite chowhound stops on the Skagit tulip trail?

MsMaryMc | Feb 18, 201503:04 PM     8

Since it looks like spring flowers may be early this year (my daffodils are already blooming!!), I'm already thinking about a trip up to see the Skagit Valley tulips. What are your favorite food-related stops along the way, up in that area? Restaurants, shops, farm stands, cheese-makers, whatever. Even if it's not really their best season--that's always a nice Sunday drive, and I keep a list on my phone of places I want to try.

I'll go first:

It's been a few years, but Calico Cupboard http://www.calicocupboardcafe.com/ in Mount Vernon has always been a favorite. They do wonderful baked goodies, soups and sandwiches--breakfast and lunch only. They also have locations in Anacortes and La Conner.

I haven't been to the Rhododendron Cafe http://www.rhodycafe.com/ in Bow since the new owners came in, but the menu still looks great. Can anybody report on them more recently?

On my list to try:

Breadfarm in Bow--an old-school bakery
Gothberg Farms in Bow--farmstead goat cheeses
