"Faux" wedding cakes

Deborah R. | Apr 8, 201512:43 PM

Hello --

Helping my niece plan her large wedding. She and her fiancé aren't big fans of cake, so don't want to invest in an elaborate cake that will feed everybody, but will want the usual cake-cutting ritual and photo.

I understand that it's possible to get a decorated fake cake, with the top tier being the real thing. Does anybody know of bakeries that would accommodate such a request? Ideally, someplace along the Rockville/G'burg/Frederick corridor.

Also, what do people think of cake pops? I've never had one, but I see some online that look adorable. Any recommendations for places that make these (or an independent baker) and don't charge $3 a pop (pun intended).
