Father's Day for a Picky Dad and his SO

Hello!

We are having Father's Day at our house this year and my father will be over with his GF. Their eating habits are very, very different from ours and last time they were over they were clearly not happy with what we made...
They like plain, nothing ethnic (unless old-school red sauce Italian) and meat. Meat or chicken or fish. They need flesh. A meal without meat is not a meal. They don't do spicy. They don't try new things. Nothing wrong with any of that, but we eat everything, tend not to eat a whole lot of meat, and like everything very flavorful. When I cook they are usually disappointed, even though I try very hard to make what they like. Sometimes I hit it right - i.e. I made meatballs and spaghetti over the winter and that was a big hit.

That's the background...so now, any ideas for what to cook??

We are more than happy to make them whatever would make them happy. We would like to do a bbq and could just do burgers and hotdogs, but I'm not sure about sides... Looking for other ideas for a main dish I guess...looking for other ideas in general lol.

Thank you!!!!
