The Fat Duck: Worth the side trip?

phedre | Mar 8, 2008 06:36 PM

I'm heading to Paris & London in April and at the top of my "must have" list is one fantastic, out of this world dining experience. I've already got plans to hit up the Dorchester for High Tea, the Anchor & Hope for a classic pub experience, and some of the Indian spots mentioned on other chow threads.

My main question revolves around The Fat Duck. I'm fully aware of the cost of the meal, and am prepared to shell out for it; from my base in West London, it will be a day trip, and let's face it, the tasting menu does not come cheap. So what say you, foodies? Is it worth the day trip to Bray for The Fat Duck?

Oh, before I forget: I'm recovering from a broken ankle, and will therefore be wearing nice, sensible black Sketcher shoes. They're not quite sneakers (trainers), but they're certainly not dress shoes. Will these be ok at the Dorchester? I can pack a separate pair of shoes if necessary, but I plan on travelling very light, so I'd prefer to leave them at home if I have to!
