fassica ethiopian in culver city--pleasant surprise

just went to fassica, an ethiopian place on washington blvd just east of motor (across from sony studios)today. despite the lack of atmosphere (there are cars parked right in front of it and it's next to a car repair shop), the food was pretty darn good. a group of 5 of us ordered the doro wat (chicken stew) and awaze tibs (sauteed beef)and 2 vegetarian combos and were stuffed to the gills. all for $50! the same woman (fassica??)who waited on us made the food, and she was so sweet, trying so hard to please us. if you're looking for atmosphere, i would stick with meals by genet, and if you're looking for killer grilled chicken i would stick with awash, but if you're craving some intensely flavored ethiopian on the westside, fassica hits the spot.
