thier new branch just opened on 2/25 (1st Ave bet 13th & 14 th st).

the place is a bit bigger than the original one, and although it seems like there is a kitchen in the back, they haven't started making dounts in the house yet.
All the donuts are from the original shop in UES.

I've been a big fan of this place for a long time. I love their boston cream - the best in NY -.they do a good job on a chocolate frosting, anything with chocolate frosting here is very good.their chocolate frosting is significantly darker - almost black - than the others, and tasty.
generally,Old fashioned donut does better job on the yeast rasied donts than the " cakey " donuts.

as far as old fashioned style donuts, Muffin Donut Coffee on manhattan ave in greenpoint brooklyn is still the best- this place is the KING of old fashioned donuts, absolutely one of the culinary hidden treasure of NY.their old fashioned/choco glazed cream crumb is especially amazing.you've never seen like this donut at the other shops in NY.I posted about this place years ago, but zero feed back, seemed like nobody cared this incredible place -. but it's good to have a nice donut shop in the east side of down town.the west side always has Dont pub.
