I recently dined at Farrah Olivia for their RW menu with wine pairing. All in all, a great deal in Old Town for $45!
The shocked Escolar really was outstanding (if I had known about the... ummm... side effects of Escolar I may have chosen a different appetizer.) That said, it was a very small portion, it tasted delicious, and I had no ill effects after indulging. (Paired with a Reisling.)
My roasted pork loin with creamy green lentils and sauteed spinach was very tasty and impressively complex. I've always heard the knock on Morou about his constant deconstruction, but the dish was cohesive matching flavors and textures extremely well. (Paired with an Australian Shiraz.)
The dessert of toasted popcorn creme brulee was forgettable, but my dining companion's citrus cheesecake showcased a deliciously creamy texture with a crispy creme brulee-like top. It was the hands-down winner. (All desserts paired with a Porto.)
We had a late reservation, and the dining room had cleared out a bit by the time our entrees were served, but the service was way above average. The waitress was attentive, knowledgeable about both food and wine, friendly, but not overly annoying.
Maybe my expectations were too low, but overall I was very impressed with my dining experience at Farrah Olivia. I'm curious to hear other people's experiences and encourage anyone who's on the fence to give the place a try. I know I'll be back...
