Maybe it's not a trend, just a local anomaly but several farmer's markets did not come back to my town (Norwalk, CT, suburban NYC) this summer. I know of at least three that are not here anymore which is about half of the total of last year. It seems counter-intuitive to me since there is more emphasis on "local" when sourcing food. Maybe (hopefully) farmers don't need this outlet any longer because it is labor intensive or consumers are finding local produce at their traditional brick and mortar markets? Anyone else seeing this or have an explanation why?
