Best NON-farmer's market produce

Scooter Pie | Jan 20, 200311:58 AM     11

"Appalling" though it may be, I have a busy schedule that doesn't permit me to spend time scavenging all over town for the best mango here, best radishes there...(When I say "farmer's market," I mean stands that are set up on weekend mornings only, i.e. Hollywood, Santa Monica, Studio City, etc.)

Where are some good places to shop for produce on a regular, weekday, stop-in-after-work basis? I work near Marina Farms on Centinela, and it seems fine to me, but some people object to them, for some reason. And I live right across from the Farmer's Market at the Grove (please don't rehash "how awful the Grove is," it's not relevant) and there seem to be a couple of decent stands there. Opinions please?

I'm not a produce expert -- and I'm trying hard to work more fruits and veggies into my diet -- so forgive my ignorance on this topic. I am definitely open to suggestions about -- gasp --- supermarkets!

Thanks in advance.
