Harmada had Indian Red peaches this week. They usually appear for about a week or two each summer. I like these heirloom peaches because they are relatively rare. Inside there are the most beautiful intense red streaks. It is a tart, acidic peach. If you eat the super fuzzy skin, it will make your mouth pucker, so peeling them is better. Sometimes the skin is so fuzzy, there is peach lint clinging to it.
Harmada is on the Embarcadero corner across from the lavandar stand. Some of the other stands carry them sometimes.
Happy Quail Farms, the pepper stand near Harmada makes their own paprika. They currently have habinero which they describe as having medium heat. IMO it's a pretty hot medium. I am not a paprika fan being familiar only with Schilling. I really like this. If you like pepper flakes on your pizza, this would be good to try. On a recent picnic, I sprinkled this on some plain potato chips and it was a crowd pleaser. It WAS a group of non chowhounds, but almost everyone liked them.
