My boss offered to take me out for lunch as a going away present. He didn't specify any limit, or anything that would reign in my imagination at this possibility. I am torn by my conscience (I feel bad about going to a truly expensive place but desperately want to enjoy some well-thought, bien fait food with the possibility I would learn some new things). As I don't want to stray too far from work, all I can think up are the kingdoms of Tom Collichio and Danny Meyer:Gramercy Tavern (the bar of course)and Craft, which sounds like too much to handle for lunch; Blue Smoke, Eleven Madison (it is in the building where we work), and Tabla. There is Fleur de Sel, although I am hesitant to try since I have not read that many of its reviews. I am a fan of Collichio's pork, especially at Witchcraft, and have heard wonders of his roasted pork at the Tavern. Yet if any of you have tidbits or suggestions for around Madison Square Park, please fill me in. There will be six people all together for the luncheon.
