Leaving New York :(and want to have a really excellent meal. B/c of budget and taste I usually stick to ethnic food places, but would like to try one of the great French style places (on the level of Jean Georges) -- preferrably someplace that runs about $100 person without wine. I've been to Babbo, Wallse, and Chubo (I know not the same league) and am pretty knowledgeable about food at the other end of the pay scale. So I really want excellent food I can't possibly make at home, i.e. no little salads with strips of white sardines. In terms of menu, I'm looking for light and savory, imaginative, use of sauce, availability of dishes without pork or red meat.

What is the best for the money? I have about a month to make reservations.
