I went to Aroma on Saturday evening with a group of 8 for a low-key bachelorette party. Aroma could not have been more accomodating and enabled us to have an incredibly memorable evening.
They were incredibly friendly and available during the reservation process and worked with us to get the bachelorette's favorite foods on the menu. They allowed us to create a separate osso buco-like prix-fixe option and agreed to bake a carrot cake for dessert.
The atmosphere is wonderful. We were led downstairs to the room they have for larger parties. We were seated at one end of a long table in a room that made us all feel as though we were in Italy. It was incredibly warm and cozy on a rainy night. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgable, and was flexible when dealing with various dietary restrictions.
I have found that the bread is often a good indicator of the quality of the meal and was pleased that the bread we were served was warm, fresh, and tasty. The prix-fixe spinach salad with gorganzola was lightly dressed and a good mix of flavors. For the entrees, four of us had the lamb shank with freshly made cavatelli- the meat was tender and the cavatelli wasn't too heavy at all. One person had the suckling pig and enjoyed it immensely. There were two other pasta dishes, a seared tuna (a little too zesty for the diner but it had been advertised as such), and one other that I can't remember. The carrot cake was flavorful and moist- an impressive dessert for a restaurant that doesn't have it on the menu
The wine list had a wide variety of moderately priced wines with helpful descriptions and the sommelier guided us to a white and a red to have with dinner. We followed up dinner with a sparkling red (absolutely fantastic) and ended up getting a prosecco as well because we didn't want to leave.
There is no question that I will return- the ambiance, the food, and the helpful and friendly staff were above and beyond what I have experienced at many more highly renowned and expensive restaurants. I highly recommend it.
