Famima "Creme Brulee Puff"

Dylan | May 7, 200606:11 PM

I'm not Famimas biggest fan, but I have to admit I enjoyed what they call the "creme brulee puff" - essentially a choux pastry stuffed generously with fairly rich vanilla custard and toppoed with powdered sugar. It's refrigerated, so it's not crisp, but it is strangely satisfying. I don't eat anything with hydrogenated fat in it these days, so it's rare I can buy a packaged treat like this - but the creme brulee puff appears to be stuffed with the real thing (egg yolks, cream, and the like - admittedly not exactly health food either).

I also tried a bite of the deep fried chicken curry bread (which some have recommended), but it was tasty but too greasy my taste...

(Famima is the Japanese convenience store at La Cienaga and Santa Monica, open 24 hours I think; they may have other locations.)
