family fun w/in-laws & nieces -- report

thanks everyone for your ideas. i noticed many responses were deleted for some reason?!?!? anyway the in-laws and my three nieces aged 11, 9 and 5 had a nice visit with us over the past weekend. however, their boundless energy exhausted us.

MARS 2112 was a big hit. the food is generally bad & overpriced. my tip for those of you stuck here is that the caesar salad was acceptable as well as the most inexpensive item on the menu at $7.95. i tried a bite of the kid's pizza and the sauce tasted like sugar water-yuk! but the they loved it. oh, i had a blue martian margarita and it was awful. the video game area has the japanese 'dance dance' thingamajig game which was a hit as was the 'space ride' into the restaurant. go early or off hours it gets crowded.

JOHN'S PIZZA was also a hit with this crew, as was CONES afterward for ice cream. NATHAN'S and coney island also went over very well. i've never eaten so much candy as we did on the tram and at roosevelt island (from DYLAN'S CANDY STORE, big winner of the visit award). the toyz r us ferris wheel in times square was also well loved.

one place that didn't go over quite so well was JECKYLL & HYDE in the village. the kids were scared at first, then thought it was too corny. worst of all it's way way too loud. my spouse and i split an order of nachos which i haven't eaten in eons and it was not too bad.

So that's our story. If you have more ideas keep'm coming because they said they can not wait to come back.
