A fallen favorite......Oggi

Well, it seems bound to happen far too many times in the restaurant business. So few remain consistant over any stretch of time. Yet, all it takes is attention to detail for each and every meal served. And, not getting too enamored with one's success.

We were in South Florida for the Home Show and to see some friends. Whenever we are in the Quayside area, we go to Oggi...Been customers for more than 10 years.
But, visitations to Oggi are few and far between the last four years. Still, whenever they ocurred, they were as good as those we experienced while living in So Florida and dining there frequently. I have posted positives many times about the place.

There were three of us dining last night; We ordered chicken parm and veal parm. Yeah, I know it's rather mundane, but they have always done them so exceptionally well. Not very difficult to produce when you're getting $18.95 per....Right?

Wrong! Well, for some reason the kitchen has decided they need so much more time to do these dishes that they are frying the cutlets up ahead of time, refrigerating them, and then just firing them up under the salamander with their sauce and $18.95 each. Jsut like they do in a pizza joint where they are charging you $7.95 for the item.

If you have ever done this yourself, you know the outcome. A tough piece of chicken or veal with a pasty wet exterior. And, that's exactly what we got.

Normally, you can condone an off night if a place's intentions are good. However, when you take shortcuts on a dish you are charging $18.95 for? No way that's acceptable. Make your own decisions on this place. We'll never return. Oh, incidently, they were packed.
