I need a "no-fail" vanilla cake recipe as easy as my "no fail" chocolate one!

My no-fail chocolate cake recipe is the ONLY cake I've made successfully every time and I LOVE it. It calls for 2 cups of buttermilk, a big whack of cocoa powder (3/4 cup, I think), some peanut oil, vanilla and 2 whole eggs. I blend the wet ingredients until well combined, then sift in the sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Pour into prepared oblong pan, bake at 350 and it's perfect after 35 min. I sometimes cheat on the buttermilk and just use 2 tbsp vinegar then add enough whole milk to measure 2 cups. But I always use the best Dutch process cocoa powder....

Why, oh why, can't I find a similar recipe for a plain white/yellow cake that bakes up moist and flavorful and achieves a modicum of height without endless whipping of egg whites, fussing around with multiple bowls or berating myself for not leaving the butter out to warm up to room temperature? Save me before I resort to a packaged cake mix!! Redhead.
