My fagor futuro blew the release valve off during pressure release, making split pea soup...what a mess

I have had good experiences with my fagor futuro until I took the valve apart to clean it.

My first use after cleaning it leaked from the handle seals and when I saw that I took it off the heat.
I put it in the sink and released the pressure using the valve and it popped off leaving a guyser of split pea with a 2 meter radius. Lucky I had three kitchen towels to cover it.
What a bloody mess.

I am pretty sure I had the 75 percent fill rule for foaming over and I pre-soaked the split peas for 2 hours before cooking.

I just cleaned it and filled it with water and did a clean "dry run" with water alone. It came to pressure, lost a bit of water on one handle but when I released the pressure at least it stayed on.

Anyone else have the valve blow off?
