My parents gave me a Lobel's gc for xmas, and now I'm inviting them over for dinner to share the glory. I'm serving filets + mini hamburgers (honestly, i love the Lobels hambugers more than the pricey stuff). Now that I have the hearty man-food covered, I need ideas for fabulous sides using spring veggies and herbs that will be light on the stomach, but still go reasonably well w/ the mains.
Plus, any suggestions for making homemade hamburger buns would be appreciatead. I'm thinking of serving them as apps first, then a salad or soup type course, then the filets. Or perhaps I should serve them together as the entree...sort of a "duo of beef" thing. Presentation ideas appreciated as well.
Wine: in the basement , i have monestrell, garnacha and tempranillo from Portugal. Which? or something else?
