Went for my birthday - couldn't decide till the last minute whether to go to Starfish, JK or Celestin, but opted for Celestin for its French cuisine. I'm so glad that I did.
Despite the fact that it was mid-week, the place was relatively busy. However, the service was impeccable, from beginning to end.
I had the foie gras ($19) as my appetizer, accompanied by the recommended apperitif, and my SO had the recommended rabbit ravioli. They were just sublime. As for the mains, I had the sea bream ($34?), and my SO had the duck confit. Just amazing! All the dishes were meticulously prepared, presentation simple yet elegant.
As it was my birthday, they had prepared a dessert platter for me, which consisted of a strawberry mascarpone tart and a chocolate cake with caramel icecream. Again, nicely presented with one candle on the tart. It was a perfect finish to our enjoybale, memorable meal.
I've been to George, Lee, JK Wine Bar, JOV, Auberge de Pommier, Canoe, Square, Sen5es, etc., but Celestin outshines the others in my opinion. I was really impressed.
The restaurant is located on the north east corner of Manor x Mount Pleasant, just south of Eglinton E.
