I had forty guests at my house last night celebrating my 60th birthday. Jason Unger of Jason's Kitchen did the catering. We asked him to prepare a number of finger foods that would feed a hungry crowd for several hours. He came up with some brilliant ideas. Bacon wrapped dates with cheese and nuts, Vegatable and goat cheese bruschetta, shrimp tacos with amazing sauce, assorted grilled sausages, grilled pork loin and a really fun Italian style hush puppy. He and his helper had done much of the prep before arriving but the acutally cooking was done in my kitchen. There was more than enough food and he worked very efficiently. Highly recommended. **I'm the spouse of the 60-year-old who just wrote the above lines, and I would just like to add that Mr. Ungar achieved in each dish (and I have to call his preparations 'dishes' because they were more substantial than hors d'oeuvres) a complexity of fascinating flavors and textures that all married to create one larger impression from the components. Wow. And he functioned so self-sufficiently in my tiny, inadequate kitchen. He'd brought everything he needed, and in such an organized way - like a true travelling kitchen. I enjoyed watching him working with his sous-chef - they're two young men who already are real professionals. I feel I should find something to criticize, to make my comments more believable, yet I can't. I have only praise. Thank you Jason Ungar!
