Extraordinary evening at Mistral

I just returned home from Mistral, where my brothers and I hosted a dinner party for 33 guests in the restaurant's beautiful private room -- The Salon Room -- to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. This was the best performance I have ever experienced by a restaurant in its private room. The food and the service were both truly outstanding. Special requests -- vegetarian entree for one guest, weight watchers for another -- were happily accommodated. And almost every single guest came up to me at the end of the night to compliment me on my choice of restaurants; everyone had a great time.

For $100 per person, we were able to select five passed hors d'oeuvres during a cocktail hour -- we chose softshell crab fingers, fois gras toasts, asparagus and parmesan bruschetta, assorted Mistral pizzas, and crispy wontons with tuna tartare -- an appetizer, three entrees to choose from -- we offered roasted halibut with crabmeat risotto, roasted duck with mushroom risotto, and rack of lamb -- and a trio of desserts, including fresh berries and cream, chocolate pot de creme, and creme brulee.

I just can't say enough about the restaurant's performance. I have always enjoyed dining at Mistral, and I am very much looking forward to finding excuses to use The Salon Room again.
