Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Want to start a war in my family? Open a discussion about extra virgin olive oil.Yesterday my daughter came over and mentioned that a popular local supermarket had Colavita 2 liter tin of Extra virgin olive oil on sale for $14.99 and the store brand for $5.99.My daughter thinks both are an excellent buy and my wife says that they are ok for certain uses.I am very skeptical about the quality.far as I remember years ego Colavita oils were made from 100% Italian Olives grown in the Molise Region of central Italy. This is no longer the case.Got on the horn and called my son and he agrees with me.We have been using an unfiltered California oil from olive groves in the Sacramento Valley made from high yield arbequina and arbosana varieties.I understand it doesn't have the complex flavors of the expensive Italian,Spanish or Greek oils but for around $ 12 a liter you get a good, fresh, mild flavored oil.Trader Joe has a similar oil but for 4 or 5 dollars more we prefer Napa Valley Natural as they claim their oil is never heated above 86deg during processing.Every time we tried something else in that price range we have been disappointed.Any suggestions?
