Jun 6 (Brookyn, NY) - In a stunning upset decision this week one diner has declared that the Burger at Bacchus has eclipsed perennial favorite Petes Waterfront Ale House's sirloin serving.
"I'm just as shocked but most satisfied. I think this is how Wimpy felt throught his career as a burger seeker..."
said the diner, known as fkerm, referring to the classic epicurean of chopped sirloin from the Popeye cartoon adventures. He continued " I was sitting there eating on Sunday night, alone and realy enjoing its crisp crust and juicy interior, I had ordered it rare. What really got me though was that during the meal I noticed I was tasing the meat juices. mmmmm. I tend not to eat the bun but I had to this time it had soaked in all that goodness. The fries were most serviceable as well, Petes may still have them on that because - usually they are hotter at Petes, but these fries were good."
The diner said that paired with a glass of very dry Cahors it was a very pleasurable meal and none too pricey, $8.50 for the burger and 7 for the wine.
"I have been ardently in Petes cornver for 10 years or so. When I walked away from Bacchus I started thinking 'that was better than my last petes burger' I got home and a little while later mentioned in passing to my wife - bacchus burger may be better than petes, she said 'YES!' It wsa then I knew I wasn't dreaming."
Waterfront has not been contacted for a response, because this reporters budget is sort of limited right now and with journalistic ethics being what they are today it seems appropriate to let the controversy cool down a bit.
"I will always love Waterfront and will be sure to give it a chance to recapture the crown - but maybe theres room for two champs in Brooklyn Burgers....how many heavy weight champions are there?" fkerm said.
