I am planning a trip to these towns and would love suggestions and feedback. We tend to do light lunches and feast for dinner--with the occasional night with just pizza. We will have a car but will not be using it for dinner.
(I searched the archive as far back as 2010, but some links are not working.)
Bari: one night, hoping for a feast to eradicate memories of airplane food, plus perhaps a light lunch the next day.
Considering Pescatore if we are in the mood for seafood; otherwise Terranima (Sounds like we would get better service here, something required when suffering from jet lag--and we will be on the coast later for plenty more seafood, so I think Terranima is it! Would we need a reservation on a Friday in late May?)
Matera: 2 nights -- one for La Botteghe; the other is Sunday night--I have not checked who is closed Sunday yet. Il Cantuccio?
We plan to do a strenuous hike outside of town, so if you know a great shop for provisions would love a recommendation.
Lecce: 3 nights (one is a Monday)
Alle Duo Corti
Cucina Casereccia /Le Zie
During the day, we will drive along the coast and lunch in Otranto, Gallipoli, or some little shack we find :)
Monopoli: 3 nights
I have some Katie Parla recs for here, and we will have a kitchen.
