Went to Wolfgang's Steakhouse (33rd/Park, started by the former head waiter at Luger's) for the first time last night, and wanted to share some observations and see what other people's experiences have been.
First of all, the place was mobbed. Good to see that it's thriving in a place where other restaurants have failed, but they need to get a hold of things quickly. We had a 7 PM reservation, but weren't seated until 8:45 or so. If this had been a business dinner
That said, they were very apologetic about the situation, and gave us a free bottle of wine when we sat down.
The main problem at that point was that we'd been drinking at the bar for 2 hours, and we're a little too "buzzed" to objectively judge the food. What I do recall is that the food was basically a Luger's replica-- great bacon, onions/tomatos, creamed spinach. And the porterhouse (for 3) was excellent...though I'd be interested in hearing other, more sober, opinions before returning.
