Experience at Divino Restaurant and Lounge

foodiejudy | Oct 18, 2004 09:36 PM

My husband, friend and I dined at Divino Restaurant and Lounge, an Argentinian/Latin restaurant which converts to a disco after 11:00 pm on Saturday nights and here was our experience. To start on a good note, we had a very competent, friendly waitress named Claudia, the seafood stuffed artichoke was delicious and served on time. My casserole of mixed seafood with saffron (real, they assured me, not turmeric) rice was good though the lobster should have been taken out of the shell and my vegetable side was nicely grilled. My companions' dishes of grilled lamb and steak were tasty. Complaints: the red wine sangria I ordered tasted like Hawaiian Punch (they graciously didn't charge me for it and brought a very tasty dry but not too dry Argentinian Chardonnay); then, it took FOREVER (at least 45 minutes) for our entrees to arrive with no explanation. The women who were seated next to us ordered the same grilled meats when we did (the grilling of the meats being the eventual explanation for the delay) got theirs well before we did. Then our desserts took forever to arrive - again the women seated next to us were served their desserts well before us - and when they did arrive the raspberry crepes my friend and I ordered had cherries in them instead and thus tasted way too sweet. When I NICELY complained to the manager, initially he balked at taking anything off our bill. Eventually nice Claudia prevailed and our desserts were removed. We felt like Rodney Dangerfield - don't get no respect! Word to the wise - they have good food, but sit in Claudia's section and emphasize to them that you're in a hurry (even if you're not). Or else your meal might take 4 hours which is what ours did and it wasn't even extremely busy there that night, a SAturday!
