Does anybody have experience with a convection microwave oven?

Our old built-in, above-the-range microwave died last night, so we're shopping for a replacement. I haven't bought a microwave in decades (this one came with the house, 12+ years ago) so I was a little overwhelmed with all the bells and whistles I hadn't seen before. One was the convection feature--I didn't even know they were putting that in microwaves! There were a couple of KitchenAids that caught my eye, but there were also some GE models that had it. The salesperson said these ovens didn't brown quite as well as a conventional oven, but they would let you adequately cook things you wouldn't want to do in a regular microwave--cookies, roasts, etc. I wouldn't expect to give up my regular gas oven, but there are certainly times when a second oven that worked more like a conventional oven (as opposed to a microwave) would sure be handy. The price difference seems to be about $160-$200 ($629.99 for the KitchenAid model with convection, vs. $469.99 for a similar KitchenAid without) more than a regular microwave.

So, has anybody use one of these? Worth it? Pros and cons?

Thanks in advance!
