I've been to Mesa Grill a few times, and after much delay decided to finally check out Bolo. Food wise what an amazing experience it was.
The dining room I thought was nothing special, noise level normal, and an older than expected crowd given our 10:30 seating. But once the food started arriving, all other things seemed to drify to the background. We started with a grilled flatbread with chorizo and fontina cheese, topped with baby micro greens and a red pepper puree that was out of this world. We also had a beet and goat cheese and potato terrine with hot crispy bacon and a mustard dressing. What a combination of textures between the warm goat cheese and the perfectly crisp bacon. Delightfull.
For a main I had roast rabbit wrapped with ham and a cauliflour and white truffle rissoto. The rabbit was probably the best I have ever had, so succulent and falling off the bone. The rissotto was so creamy and reamined so even after cooling down after a few minutes on my plate. The othe main was a roast duck which was amazing as well. One piece was lacking the complete crispiness of the skin, but the breast piece had it.
For dessert the standout was the meyer lemon bread pudding, what an intense lemon flavoring with crisp bread pudding.
Overall a very very enjoyable experience, for two critical people.
