What to expect visiting prince edward county wineries as a first timer?

szw | Jul 21, 201508:49 PM     12

This may seem like a really dumb question, but my wife and I would like to visit some wineries soon and have never done so before and don't know what to expect. We like wine but don't buy expensive wine and don't drink it very often, nor know much about it. I just thought it would be interesting to visit and perhaps buy a bottle or two if reasonably priced. Not planning on drinking much myself as I will be driving to our final destination afterwards.

Basically would prefer something more 'self guided' than hosted if possible, or at least a very casual affair.

Side note, can anyone recommend any pick your own strawberry farm in the area? We are heading to sandbanks and would like to stop somewhere along the way.
